Cannock is the district town, and its roofs come in three distinct generations. Around the centre and Bridgtown there is Victorian and Edwardian terracing, largely slate. Then come the very large interwar and post-war estates that make up most of the town, almost entirely concrete interlocking tile, a great deal of it now fifty or sixty years old and at the point where the granular surface has weathered away and moss gets a grip. Newer development around Huntington and the fringes makes up the third.
